The club dropped back to fielding 2 teams in 2018 due to the toll of injuries and a strenuous schedule the previous year. Manager Ben Stobart led a 14-player squad through Double-A competition. The Mavericks finished 8–14 in the regular season but qualified for the playoffs, reaching at least the semi-finals.
Strongest performances came in late June and July — dominant wins against Brighton (18–15 and 7–2) and Richmond Barons (18–8, 15–8, 7–0). Yasu Minowa won his second consecutive MVP award.
Managed by Phill Nathan, the Millers also reached the playoffs in Single-A, competing in the semi-finals and finals. Mid-season wins included a decisive 20–5 victory over Bracknell Phoenix and a dramatic 24–23 win over Herts Raptors.
Oli Edser won both MVP and Player's Player awards. Tom Sullivan recognised for his defensive work. Toby Allan named Rookie of the Year in his debut season.
