How the season unfolded

Guildford Mavericks I

The first team finished with a winning record in Double-A and qualified for the playoffs. Their postseason run ended in the semi-finals — eliminated by Hull Scorpions, with a standout performance from Grant Marshall. Hull subsequently lost to Brighton in the championship final.

Player Pawel contributed "home run heroics" during the playoff run, giving the team a fighting chance before Hull's quality showed through.

The second team also finished with a winning record in Single-A — a solid second campaign for the club's development roster, despite significant disruption throughout the year.

The Season Behind the Scenes

The club lost use of the main diamond at Broadwater School after a single local resident complained about weekend noise. The first team played the majority of their games away from home; the second team used an alternative grass field on the school grounds.

Both squads adapted and maintained competitive records — a testament to the resilience of the playing group under difficult circumstances.

End of an era: 2013 was the final season at the club for head coach Tony Oliva, who had been instrumental in the club's resurgence. He departed to Richmond in the off-season.
